The Dangers of Aging Gas Pipes

According to Journalist John Kelly from USA Today, “About every other day over the past decade, a gas leak in the United States has destroyed property, hurt someone or killed someone, a USA TODAY Network investigation finds. The most destructive blasts have killed at least 135 people, injured 600 and caused $2 billion in damages since 2004.”

If these statistics on aging gas pipes do not raise your awareness about the importance of managing your infrastructure assets, I am not sure what will. Infrastructure assets deteriorate over the years but the most difficult ones to keep track of are often those hidden from plain sight. Asset Condition, Risk and Planning- Don’t miss out on the complete solution!

Data Transfer Solutions (DTS) proudly shares that VUEWorks (Core, Resource Manager, Projects, Valuation, Condition, Risk and Budget Forecasting) is more than a fully integrated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for storing assets.  We know there’s a lot of asset management software solutions on the market.  However, for managing the future, only one solution has the entire turnkey package built into its suite.

VUEWorks has always touted the ability to manage an asset’s Probability of Failure (PoF).  This, when multiplied by asset’s Consequence of Failure (CoF) and a Redundancy Factor (R) gets asset owner’s to the big picture.  This big picture is the special ability to see the Business Risk Exposure (BRE)!  VueWorks takes this one step further, where analysis, budgeting and forecasting are presented in scientific and reportable results.  Some have called this decision support, project prioritization, or analysis against infrastructure…VUEWorks calls this common sense!

VUEWorks provides, as a commercial off the shelf solution (COTS):

  • Risk Assessment
  • Replacement Costs for Assets
  • Budget Forecasting
  • Project Planning
  • Prioritization of Projects
  • Short term and long term planning alternative analysis
  • GIS Powered By Esri
  • Reporting
