Field Data Collection Engineer – MAC Operator
Overview
Field Data Collection Engineer (also referred to as a MAC Operator) is responsible for the safe operation of the company’s Mobile Asset Collection (MAC) vehicle and all the survey equipment. This position requires extensive travel for long periods of time (several weeks to several months at a stretch), including weekends. Travel expenses, per diem and competitive benefits are offered.
Minimum Requirements
An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, or 3-5 years of high level experience, is preferred. Routine maintenance and knowledge of automobile and computer hardware are also preferred. Applicants must have a basic understanding of the concepts behind data management. Knowledge of GIS systems is a plus. Applicants must possess good IT technical skills and the ability to think and solve problems. Applicants must have excellent verbal/written communication skills. Successful applicants will also be able to demonstrate their ability to find new solutions.

Responsibilities
- Operate DTS’ Mobile Asset Collection (MAC) vehicle in a responsible manner consistent with training and quality standards specified by DTS.
- Maintain and organize a daily, legible logbook of data collected and submit to the Project Manager as required.
- The Field Data Collection Engineer will assist in driving and operating DTS’ Mobile Asset Collection vehicle; overhead digitizing of features using GIS; and GIS data extraction to support asset management projects
- Preparing technical reports and forms; training associated personnel in system use, updates, and data-processing applications. Work is performed primarily independently, under the direction and guidance of a supervisor, with work products subject to regular review.
